Library Assistant/Public Service Supervisor
How long have you been with the University?
Tell us about your history here:
For 13 years I worked as a circulation clerk, since late 2014 I moved to Library Assistant, which is a combination of a few jobs. I’m Technical Services (getting the books ready for the shelves, ordering material and supplies, paying bills and all that fun jazz behind the scenes). I’m the Interlibrary Loan (both lending and borrowing) clerk. Within the last year I also became the Public Services (circulation desk) Supervisor.
Favorite part of the job?
I honestly love what I do. Whether it’s getting the offices moved/remodeled, small projects to update our library, or just doing my normal day to day job.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to work on random things around the house, yardwork, garden, hangout around the fire pit and some days just veg out and be lazy.
Neatest place you visited?
Hmmm that would be Devil’s Tower in Wyoming.
What’s your pet peeve?
I actually have misophonia, which is a selective sound sensitivity, so loud eaters, slurping, the sound of dragging feet, and other sounds are extremely disturbing to me.
What’s your favorite color?
Blue & Grey
Best advice you could give to a student?
To live each day proud of the things you have accomplished so far.
An interesting/unique thing about yourself?
- hahaha I love this one!….. I work in a library and don’t like reading. I actually have not read a single book all the way through or even a quarter of the way through.
- My animals; my dog, Ruby is 4 years old, she is a potcake, (yes you read that right). She is a rescue from the Turk and Caicos Islands. My kittens, Tanzanite and Onyx are 2 years old. (I call them the twins, because they are same litter sisters). They are Russian Blues mixed with Bombay. Then there is my Sapphyre she is 7 years old she is my Russian tortoise.
